As the end of the year rapidly approaches, parents are faced with planning visitation and timeshare that is appropriate for the children’s holiday break. The realities of COVID-19 have completely upended our typical holiday planning. Here are some tips to consider when designing your holiday visitation.
Keep the safety of you and your family a top priority. As appealing as it might be to engage in holiday get-togethers beyond your immediate family, your safety and the safety of your children must be paramount. Your current timeshare plans may need to be reevaluated. Do come up with specific dates, times and places for exchanging the children. Have a real clear plan on who’s going to be participating in any activities.
Be sure your phone numbers and addresses are updated to facilitate easy access and communication during these times. If you intend to make significant changes to your parenting plan, it’s best to do so in writing and even better to have a new court order. Clarity is everything. When you have muddled confusing or vague orders, it only creates additional parenting problems.
Be creative and flexible in designing events and activities that can be fun for the family and in compliance with whatever the existing social distancing requirements are as set up by your health department and governor.
